I don’t think I need to tell you that the proposal got through at the joint meeting this evening?

A bit of a foregone conclusion, me thinks?

All the SoTB councillors (3) were in favour, Neil Houston and Mary Heathcote abstained.

 There were 35 – 40 public there, all were against the proposal for various reasons, but few got satisfactory responses from officers, TfL or designers.

There was actually a lot of time spent on comments from the floor – perhaps 3/4′s of the meeting which started at 19:00 and ended at 21:45.

 So, we had our say – but did anyone listen?

 Alas it ended in a bit of a political spat between the Cons and LD’s and vice versa.

Southbound direction.

The A3 is reduced to one lane.

PUBLIC UPDATE: 08-JUN-2010 09:19 Lanes 2 & 3 now open southbound, with emergency services still dealing in lane 1. Traffic still very congested from Shannon Corner.

Kingston Council is offering experienced drivers a chance to fine-tune their driving skills during half-day courses in May and June.

To ensure that people are safe on the roads, the course is an opportunity for older drivers to develop daily driving skills. Road safety experts will discuss subjects that include eco-driving, effective driving, observation, spatial awareness, positioning, slippery conditions and motorway driving.

The next course will take place on 27 May from 1.30 to 4.00pm at the United Reform Church Eden Street, Kingston, KT1 1HZ. The following course will be 29 June (same time) at the Shiraz Mizra Community Hall, 76A Coombe Road, Norbiton, KT2 7AZ.

MURDER IN ELLERTON ROAD!

Thought that would get your attention!

No, not literally thankfully but traffic has been impossible.

There seems to have been a great hold-up on Ewell Road towards Tolworth Broadway from late morning till early evening.

I got caught in it coming back from the dump after lunch.

This has caused many to rat-run up Ellerton Road and just about everyone is speeding.

It’s a bloody nightmare.

If I had some large 20 mph signs I’d stand by the side of the road and wave them.

Something needs to be done.

I spoke to the Safer Neighbourhood Team yesterday.

Amongst other things I complained about was speeding in Ellerton Road – a point mentioned by every resident who has responded to the recent EBBRA questionnaire in my patch.

Also there has been an increase in traffic using the road during the year including commercial vehicles.

And, when Ewell Road becomes congested going south the road is a rat-run.

How about making the section from Ewell Road to Dennan Road one-way in a northerly direction?
